Egyptian Gods
Egyptian Gods were very important to the Egyptians. They worshiped and had to follow the "Rules" from the Gods. There were over 2,000 Gods. Some images showed them with the body of a human, and the head of a animal. Different animals were chosen to represent the gods and there personalities. Ra was the king of the gods. Sort of like Zeus from Greek mythology. Five of these gods are:
Osiris: The god of the dead. He appears as a mummified man wearing a white headdress. His skin is blue.
Anubis: Helps Osiris with the weighing of the heart when someone dies. Appears as a man with a jackal head. He was the god of embalming.
Sekhmet: Sekhmet was the goddess of war. She was often depicted as a women with the headdress of a lion. She was very fierce.
Thoth: Thoth was the god of knowledge and writing. He was very smart. The Egyptians believed he gave them the gift of hieroglyphics. He was often seen as a man with the head of an Ibis.
Isis: Isis was the protective goddess. She also used her powerful magic to heal and replenish.
